The homepage of the College of Charleston’s website has undergone a transformation with new features that are designed to provide users with an improved experience and the easiest accessibility to the most relevant and most frequently utilized information.

New CofC HomepageAs part of the website refresh project, all internal pages will be reformatted over the next few months, but the URLs and content will remain the same.

“We spent 12 months tracking, reviewing and analyzing how the website was used,” explains Larry Stoudenmire, director of web strategies in the Division of Marketing and Communications. “We looked at industry best practices and listened to the recommendations of the campus community. The result is a homepage that highlights the strengths and uniqueness of our university to an external audience, while also making the site easier for the campus community to update.”

Users of the refreshed homepage will see a simpler design and an expanded “functional” footer. The homepage includes a more intuitive graphic feature that combines similar resources – like videos, articles, and information about majors or Schools. An expanded drop-down menu has been added to make it easier for users to find information. Links in the new drop-down menus have been selected with external users in mind, and will make it easier for them to access the information they may need with fewer clicks.

“The College of Charleston website is our online front door, and is visited by thousands of people every week,” says Mike Haskins, executive vice president of external relations. “These enhancements to our design and navigation continue to tell the powerful story of the College as an outstanding institution of higher education.”
