The search committee for the next president of the College of Charleston was announced during today’s meeting of the College of Charleston Board of Trustees.
Greg Padgett, chair of the College of Charleston Board of Trustees, announced the names of the thirteen members of the Presidential Search Committee:
- Chuck Baker, President of the Alumni Association
- John Busch, Member of the Board of Trustees
- Lynn Cherry, Speaker of the Faculty
- Demetria Clemons, Member of the Board of Trustees
- Frank Gadsden, Secretary of the Board of Trustees
- Otto German, Athletics Compliance Coordinator
- Jordan Hensley, SGA President
- Sharon Kingman, Chair of the Foundation Board
- Lee Mikell, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees
- Greg Padgett, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Search Committee
- Dan Ravenel, Member of the Board of Trustees
- Jeff Schilz, Member of the Board of Trustees
- Steve Swanson, Co-Chair of the College’s Comprehensive Fundraising Campaign
“I am grateful that these members of our community have agreed to take on this very significant responsibility,” said Padgett. “I expect there will be many outstanding candidates for the College’s presidency. I am highly confident that, working together, this committee will identify distinguished and qualified finalists as part of a thorough, fair, and inclusive search process.”
The search committee members include trustees, alumni, the student government president, the elected leader of the faculty, and a staff representative.
The committee will be assisted by AGB Search, a leading national search firm.
Padgett said he expects the position will be advertised beginning in November, with finalists invited to campus in February.
