As a precautionary action due to expected poor road conditions, the College of Charleston will delay opening campus until 12 p.m. on Thursday, January 30. This delay affects all classes, labs, meetings, and other activities scheduled at the Main Campus, North Campus, Patriot’s Point, Grice Marine Lab and the Lowcountry Graduate Center.
The College leadership is aware that some students, faculty, and staff are experiencing travel delays because of bridge closures and traffic accidents. All members of the campus community are encouraged to be patient and to cooperate with one another in accommodating these challenges. All students and employees are urged to travel safely and avoid dangerous situations.
All classes, labs and activities that begin at noon or later will take place as scheduled. Instructors of classes or labs scheduled to meet Thursday morning are encouraged to work with their students and department chairs in making arrangements to cover necessary course material missed due to this altered Thursday morning schedule.
All campus offices will be open as of 12 p.m., and all faculty and staff should be prepared to open offices and hold classes and labs as of 12 p.m. Essential employees such as public safety, physical plant, residence hall and food service staff should check with their supervisors regarding work schedules.
All dining facilities will operate on a normal weekday schedule on Thursday.
The library will be open by 10 a.m. and will resume a normal schedule at that time.
Anyone needing assistance should contact the Department of Public Safety at 843.953.5611 (emergency) or 843.953.5609 (non-emergency).
