Due to wintry conditions in North Carolina, the College of Charleston will now open its baseball season against No. 12 North Carolina at home at Patriots Point this weekend.
The games will be played on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Feb. 15-17, 2014. Game times will be 2 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. Because of the schedule change, the College’s game with Charleston Southern, originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, will be on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m.

The Cougars and Tar Heels were slated to play a three-game in set at North Carolina beginning on Friday afternoon, but wintry conditions throughout the Southeast made a venue change necessary.
“We are really excited to have a program like North Carolina come to Charleston to open our season,” head coach Monte Lee said. “We are grateful to the UNC staff for their flexibility and for all of the hard work of our athletics staff to make this happen at the last minute. Our corporate partner Mike Bennett of Bennett Hospitality stepped up for us to be able to accommodate the Tar Heels on a busy weekend in town. We hope that our fans buy a ticket and come out and support us this weekend.”
Tickets will be available for purchase through the CofC Ticket Office at 843.953.COFC beginning at noon or at the Patriots Point ticket office on game day. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for youth.
CofC sophomore RHP Nathan Helvey will open the season on Saturday afternoon against UNC sophomore RHP Benton Moss.
