The College of Charleston Board of Trustees announced today that one of four candidates recently named as a finalist in the search for a new president of the College no longer wishes to be considered for the position.
Andrew H. Card, Jr., who was named as a finalist in the search, has decided to stand down at this time.
“It is not uncommon for candidates to stand down from consideration in a presidential search, and we thank Mr. Card for his interest,” said Greg Padgett, chair of the College’s Board of Trustees and chair of the Presidential Search Committee. “We are pleased with the experience and qualifications of our remaining finalists, and we look forward to having our campus community meet them during their campus visits.”
The Board of Trustees will develop a schedule for the campus visits that includes dates at which students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can meet and talk to the candidates. The complete vita of each candidate, and the schedule of campus interviews, will be posted as soon as it is available to the College of Charleston Presidential Search Website.
