Karen Hauschild, director of the Academic and Advising Center at the College of Charleston, has been awarded the Wesley R. Habley NACADA Summer Institute Scholarship.

The scholarship recognizes individuals making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. Hauschild will attend the NACADA Summer Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. from July 27 through August 1, 2014.

“I hope to not only advance the level of advising at the College of Charleston, but also to impact the profession on a larger scale,” Hauschild says.

The Summer Institute is a week-long program, during which each attendee develops a personal action plan for his/her institution. This process is facilitated by attendance at Foundation Sessions, a choice of topicals and workshops and working daily with a summer institute faculty member and a small group of participants from similar institutional types.

Hauschild has been involved in NACADA for many years as a presenter at regional and national conferences, a participant in commissions and discussions.
