Cougar Baseball celebrates after a big win

No. 16 College of Charleston will take on No. 10 Texas Tech in the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend in Lubbock, Texas. The Cougars and Red Raiders will play a best-of-three series for a chance to advance to the College World Series.

Play hasn’t even started, but the Cougars have taken the national stage. The team reentered the national rankings this week when they were picked 16th in the Collegiate Baseball Poll. Freshman Bailey Ober was named a Louisville Slugger All-American, and earned a USA Baseball tryout. Former Cougar and current New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner sent his congratulations.

Head Coach Monte Lee celebrates after a win in the Gainesville Regional

“I don’t know if I’ve slept more than 10 hours the last few days,” Head Coach Monte Lee said. “This is such a great opportunity for our school and program.”

The nationally-televised games begin on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Sunday’s game will be at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU, while Monday’s if necessary game three will be at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2. All of the games will also be broadcast on ESPN 910 AM.

The College will be making its second program appearance in a Super Regional this weekend when Charleston travels to Texas Tech. Charleston advanced to the Atlanta Super Regional in 2006.
