Baseball LossNo. 16 College of Charleston’s thrilling run to the NCAA Super Regionals came to an emotional end on Sunday afternoon in a 1-0 defeat at No. 10 Texas Tech.

The Cougars (44-19) ended the season tied for the most wins ever under sixth-year head coach Monte Lee and tied the fourth-most wins in a season in program history. College of Charleston advanced to the program’s second Super Regional after claiming the CAA Tournament championship and NCAA Gainesville Regional title over the tournament’s second-seeded team in Florida.

Texas Tech advanced to the College World Series for the first time in its program history.

The team reentered the national rankings last week when they were picked 16th in the Collegiate Baseball Poll. Freshman Bailey Ober was named a Louisville Slugger All-American, and earned a USA Baseball tryout. Former Cougar and current New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner sent his congratulations.

This was the College’s second program appearance in a Super Regional. The first time the team advanced was in 2006 to the Atlanta Super Regional.
