The competition took place in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, from June 20-22, 2014. The annual games are sponsored by the Confederación Atlética del Istmo Centroamericano.

Although she came to the College from Beaufort, S.C., Neal is of Belizean ancestry and competed in the games as a representative of Belize.

Neal placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.29. She followed that performance with another second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.37. “I came in wanting to place and compete well,” Neal said. “It was very exciting to do that here against athletes from all of these other countries.”

Earlier this spring, Neal ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.13, just .07 seconds shy of the College of Charleston school record.

Head track and field coach Amy Seago said is extremely proud of Alexia’s performances. “She competed in the midst of her summer training regimen and put up very good times. She represented the College of Charleston very well on the international stage.”
