Junior Marcus Brown is one of 100 Phi Beta Sigma fraternity members chosen from universities across the U.S. to perform in a step show as part of the organization’s 100th anniversary celebration, held in Washington D.C.
Brown will perform as part of The Best is Yet to Come Extravaganza at 6 p.m. on July 15, 2014.

“We’ve spent the majority of the past two days rehearsing and my feet, hands and thighs are killing me!” Brown says. “But, I’m so honored to be here, standing next to these fraternity brothers from across the country. It will definitely be the biggest performance of my life and I’m ready to kill it.”
Brown, a marketing major, said he responded to a nationwide call for auditions and was selected to perform. Over the past few months, he learned the steps by trading YouTube videos with the other participants.

“I’m proud to represent the College of Charleston in this group,” Brown says. “A lot of these guys come from historically black colleges and universities, and I want to show them the College can roar as loud as any other school.”
Brown says the next step shows at the College of Charleston will be held during the fall 2014 semester.
