After navigating a challenging non-conference and Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule to reach the Women’s Basketball Invitational semifinals just a year ago, the College of Charleston women’s basketball program faces another rigorous schedule for the 2014-15 season.
For the first time in program history, every conference game will be televised through partnerships with Comcast SportsNet and the American Sports Network, as well as CAA.TV, the conference’s new digital network.
The Cougars open play with two home exhibition games, taking on Georgia Southern in a closed-door scrimmage on Nov. 1, 2014, followed by a game with USC Aiken on Nov. 6, 2014, that will be available to the public.
The season officially kicks off on Nov. 14 when the Cougars head to Kennesaw State to face the Owls. Last season, buoyed by a raucous home crowd, the Cougars downed Kennesaw 87-66 on John Kresse Court.
The College’s season home opener takes place on Nov. 16, 2014, against UNC Greensboro.
“I’m excited about our non-conference schedule,” said first year head coach Candice M. Jackson. “It is purposely designed to get ready for a tough conference season. Competing against post-season teams early on gives us an opportunity to experience NCAA tournament type games in November and December and helps prepare us for what we are ultimately working towards – being in the field of 64.”

In what will likely be their toughest game of the season, the Cougars square off against defending national champion UConn in the opening round of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Nov. 28, 2014, in Estero, Fla.
The Cougars will commence their second year as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association with their league opener against Hofstra, in Hempstead, N.Y., on Jan. 4, 2015.
The CAA returns to an 18-game league schedule this season with all 10 CAA teams facing each other at home and on the road. The CAA Women’s Basketball Championship returns to The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. on March 12-15, 2015.
