Senior Catey Warren has been making the most of her opportunities lately. A Lowcountry native, Warren had five blocks on Friday night within a historic team defensive effort that saw the Cougars rack up 101 digs and nine blocks in a come-from-behind victory over Delaware.
“Catey came up big last night,” said head coach Jason Kepner. “She was exactly what the team needed. She provided great energy and blocked really well which allowed us to transition to points.”
It’s not the first time this season that Warren has stepped up when the Cougars needed her most.
Locked in a difficult second set two weekends ago in front of inhospitable crowd at Alumni Gym in Elon, N.C., it was Warren who Kepner called on to swing the tide. The senior – having not played yet in the match – trotted on the floor, was immediately set, and ultimately delivered the game winner.
Coaches smiled, teammates cheered.
