Behind a team-high 23 points from sophomore Joe Chealey, the College of Charleston men’s basketball team downed Emory, 78-68, in an exhibition game played on Saturday afternoon at TD Arena – first-year head coach Earl Grant’s unofficial public debut at the helm.
The Cougars opened their doors to TD Arena for the first time, and an excited crowd of 2,012 fans gathered from historic downtown Charleston to get their first glances at Grant’s Cougars.
CofC did not disappoint, offering a dynamic, fast-paced brand of basketball which combined up-tempo play around the perimeter with old-fashioned, hard-nosed play beneath the basket.
