College of Charleston volleyball clinched the regular season CAA championship title on Friday night, after the Cougars downed the Pride of Hofstra University in an emotional five-set thriller. This is the 14th consecutive year they have claimed either the regular season or tournament title.
“I’m just really proud of this group,” said head coach Jason Kepner. “We came here to with the intent to win a conference championship and that was probably one of the better matches we’ve played all year. Everybody played great for us tonight – I’m just really proud of this team and the way they came out and performed.”

The 2014 CAA Tournament will be held November 21-23 at TD Arena. The top-seeded Cougars take the court in Saturday’s semifinals, where they will play the UNCW/Delaware winner at 1:00 p.m. The CAA title match, which is televised this year, will be played at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, with the winner earning the league’s automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament.

“I’m thrilled that we’re going to host the conference tournament,” said Kepner after the match. “It’ll be great for us to be in our own building. I love the fact that we have the opportunity to host the CAA Championship in Charleston for a second consecutive year.”
