When students return to school after Thanksgiving break this year, they’ll find the College of Charleston campus transformed into a winter wonderland – for one day, that is.

On December 1, 2014, the Cougar Activities Board (CAB) will host a Winter Wonderland pre-finals event for students from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Cistern Yard and George Street. The event will include a giant inflatable snow globe for students to take photos in, an ice-skating rink, a screening of the film Frozen, and holiday food and drinks like apple cider, hot chocolate and soup in addition to free giveaways from CAB.

“We came up with this event as an alternative to the traditional ‘relax before finals’ events we usually hold on the day before reading day,” Katie Kirchoff, senior data science major and CAB member, said. “We wanted to offer an event that is fun, free, and something different for students as they return from Thanksgiving and get ready for finals. It is important to take breaks while studying and there is no better way to take a break than to enjoy some winter festivities.”

The event is open to the campus community, and will conclude CAB events for the fall 2014 semester. Spring 2015 events will be posted on CAB’s website in December 2014.
