The College of Charleston men’s tennis team released its 2015 schedule on Thursday, as announced by head coach Jay Bruner.
Fresh off of a successful inaugural campaign in the Colonial Athletic Association in which the Cougars finished the season with the second-highest final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking in program history (No. 74) and a runner-up spot in the conference championship, The College returns to action in 2015 with eight returners from last season’s squad.
The team’s talent will certainly be put to the test in 2015 as the Cougars’ slate features four teams who finished the 2014 spring season ranked in the top-50 of the ITA rankings, including No. 22 Clemson, No. 37 Florida State, No. 38 Virginia Tech and No. 50 UNCW. Also making appearances are No. 53 Elon, No. 71 St. Johns and No. 73 E. Carolina. Further, Presbyterian, Winthrop and Middle Tennessee State – all of whom make the Cougars schedule – were ranked in the ITA top-75 at some point during the 2014 season.
