The Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World (CLAW) will present a panel discussion concerning 150th anniversary of the end of  the “Siege of Charleston”. The discussion will be held in the Addlestone Library, room 227 on February 18, 2015.

Panelists include College of Charleston professors Amy McCandless, W. Scott Poole and Bernard Powers along with University of Texas at Arlington professor Marvin Dulaney.

During the heights of the American Civil War, Union land and sea forces blockaded Charleston. This blockade lasted over two years and did not end until General Williams Sherman’s movement into South Carolina led to Charleston’s evacuation and subsequent capture by Union forces.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public.
