“The Women’s and Gender Studies program at the College of Charleston is a phenomenal group of engaged students and supportive faculty — the work they do is transformative on so many levels,” explains Margaret Pilarski, chair of the Women’s and Gender Studies Community Advisory Board. “We’re so pleased that this year’s party is taking place in the Cistern Yard, one of the most iconic spots in the city, and a reminder that the College is what makes all this possible.”
The event is funded through hosts, who commit $100, or sponsors, who commit up to $5,000. This year’s hosts include every dean at the College of Charleston and most administrators, including President Glenn F. McConnell ’69.

“This event is in its third year and I’ve been moved by the number of people who’ve become Yes! I’m a Feminist hosts and sponsors,” says Alison Piepmeier, women’s and gender studies professor. “These are people who are willing to embrace diversity, equity, and making the world a better place.”
Pilarski adds, “This event is supported by community members and organizations from all walks of life, and to be embraced so strongly is incredibly heartening.”
