College of Charleston right-handed sophomore Bailey Ober will miss the 2015 season to undergo Tommy John surgery, the team released Monday.
“We hate to lose one of the nation’s best pitchers and a huge part of our program in Bailey Ober,” said head coach Monte Lee. “We hope that by having the surgery now, he will be able to make a full recovery by the beginning of next season.”
Ober, a native of Huntersville, N.C., was the NCBWA Freshman Pitcher of the Year last year after posting a 10-3 record and 1.52 ERA to lead all NCAA freshmen pitchers.
