College of Charleston junior ace Taylor Clarke has been named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year watch list, verifying his status as one of the best collegiate pitchers in the nation.
Clarke currently ranks fifth in the NCAA in strikeouts, and he leads the Colonial Athletic Association in hits allowed per nine innings, complete games, ERA, strikeouts, victories, as well as walks and hits per innings pitched.
The Ashburn, Va., native set a College of Charleston single-game record with 18 strikeouts against Radford on March 17, 2015, and was named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and NCAA.com National Player of the Week for his performance.
The Pitcher of the Year award, college baseball’s version of the Cy Young Award, is given annually to the nation’s top collegiate pitcher. The award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented on June 29, 2015 in Lubbock, Tx., as part of the annual Night of Champions.
