The College of Charleston will celebrate the accomplishments of graduates from its Bachelor of Professional Studies Program on May 14, 2015.
The event takes place at 6 p.m. at the College’s North Campus, located just off Interstate 526 at 3800 Paramount Drive in North Charleston.
At the ceremony, BPS graduate Kathryn Bunn will receive the Dr. Thomas A. Palmer Award, named for the distinguished professor emeritus of political science who died in 2005. The award will be presented by Palmer’s widow, Marge Palmer.
Originally from Jacksonville, Fla., Bunn is an assistant vice president for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she provides sales support to senior relationship management for healthcare clients.
Bunn, who will graduate with honors, says she enrolled in the BPS program to complete her degree and to provide a positive example for the children she and her husband plan to have someday.
Launched in the fall of 2013, the degree-completion program blends liberal arts education and applied knowledge and is tailor-made for working professionals and adult students who have prior college experience but not a degree. The program offers four areas of study: Healthcare and Medical Services Management, Organizational Leadership & Management, Applied Communication, and Information Systems.
The event will include graduates speaking about their experiences in the program as well as the official installation of a new chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, an adult student honor society.
