After capturing the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title earlier this month, the College of Charleston baseball team is focused on the next big step: winning the CAA baseball tournament this week.
The Cougars come into this championship week as the No. 1 team in the tournament. They also have home-field advantage as the host of the tournament at the Cougar’s Patriots Point facility in Mount Pleasant.
The six-team, double-elimination tournament gets underway on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 as fourth-seeded Elon faces No. 5 Delaware at noon, followed by No. 3 Northeastern against No. 6 William & Mary at 3:30 p.m. The losers of the first two games will meet in an elimination contest at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
As the regular-season champion and No. 1 seed, the Cougars earn a first-round bye, and will play the winner of the No. 4/No.5 seed game on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Tournament action continues with three games on Friday and the CAA championship game is set for 1 p.m. on May 23. The title game will be televised live by the American Sports Network.
The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament.
