Three recent College of Charleston graduates have been granted full scholarships and stipends to Hong-Kong-based Lingnan University’s Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviors program.
Kristin Furfaro ’15, Nicholas Mueller ’15, and Ashley Gresens ‘15 will travel to China this August to begin the one-year program that aims to equip students with the necessary management competencies to pursue careers in human resource management and leadership.
Henry Xie, associate professor of marketing and international business at the College of Charleston School of Business, says the students’ accomplishments bode well for their own futures, as well as the College of Charleston’s.
“I am very proud of these three bright students and also excited about the life-changing opportunity for them,” says Xie. “It is also the start of a longer-term relationship between the College and Lingnan University… to exchange more students.”
Xie has been a champion of the Lingnan University scholarship program at the College’s School of Business since he guest lectured at the Chinese university during his sabbatical in Spring 2013. He plans to lead a study abroad trip to Hong Kong and China later this year, allowing College of Charleston undergraduate students to meet with students from Lingnan University through a joint learning program.
