College of Charleston freshmen baseball standouts Ryan Brown and Carter Love were named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team selected by Collegiate Baseball.
The first-year duo made an immediate impact on the Charleston squad and garnered the attention and respect of national pundits as they each showed promise for even brighter futures in their Cougar uniforms.
Brown led off the Cougar lineup in all 60 games of the 2014-2015 season and finished the year batting .320 with 26 RBIs and 63 runs scored (one short of the team record). He maintained a .413 on-base percentage and .455 slugging percentage as he amassed 14 doubles, two triples, and homered five times. He reached base successfully in 16 straight games as the Cougar leadoff hitter, and also went for multiple hits in 24 different games.
Love was an integral member of the Cougar bullpen, finishing the year with a 1.98 ERA in 41 innings pitched over 24 relief appearances. He finished the year with a 6-0 record and four saves, holding opponents to a .238 average. He did not allow a run in 17 of his 24 appearances, including both appearances versus Auburn in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, holding the Tigers scoreless over 3.2 innings across two games.
Brown and Love become the 10th and 11th Cougars to earn Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-America honors.
