Dear Professor Uwah,
I was visiting campus with my son, Cory, for Accepted Student Weekend in March, and heard that you are retiring at the end of this semester. I wanted you to know that you were, and have always remained, my favorite professor.
I was a bit of a late bloomer, spending three years studying art before taking off some time to “find myself.” When I returned to the College to study education, I was blessed to have you for French. You made learning and speaking a language fun and relevant. I looked forward to your class, and I was excited to realize that – for the first time in all the years I had studied French – I was thinking in French. It was like a strange gift and was so exciting for me.
Thank you for making such an impact on my life. Thank you for helping me love school again and giving me the tools I would need to become an effective and successful teacher. Thank you for guiding me toward the life I have today with three children who all want to be teachers! That alone means so very much to me, as my greatest hope is that, through teaching, I, and eventually they, will touch someone’s life the way you touched mine.
I hope you truly enjoy your retirement and find joy knowing that you have made a lasting impression on so many students.
Bon chance and much love!
