The College of Charleston started the iCharleston study abroad program in 2014 for select freshman applicants who are not initially accepted for enrollment. Instead of coming to Charleston for the fall semester of their freshman year, the College allows iCharleston students to take classes abroad in Canada, England, or Ireland before transferring to the College for the spring semester.iCharleston-cover

Beyond obtaining international exposure, iCharleston students gain course credit while studying in one of these amazing places:

  • London, England – Students attend classes at the Foundation for International Education, including a core course, “British Life and Culture.” The foundation’s study center is located close to the Gloucester Road Underground Station, and student housing is less than a ten-minute walk away, near South Kensington.
  • Dublin, Ireland – Students attend classes coordinated by the Foundation for International Education and Dublin Business School, including the core course “Irish Life and Cultures.” Students live south of the city center in apartments.
  • Kelowna British Columbia, Canada – Students attend classes at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and live in traditional residence halls. Beyond a great university, Kelowna boasts world-famous outdoor opportunities in nearby mountains and lakes, including first-class skiing.

College applicants invited to the iCharleston program receive a nifty “passport” booklet from the College. The ornate booklet, for which Sheriar Press earned an award from the Printing Industry of the Carolinas, provides details about classes, costs, travel arrangements, dates of study, and more.
