The bigger the challenge, the bigger the reward. The 2015 College of Charleston men’s soccer team opened up preseason camp on Aug. 10, 2015, ready to tackle its 29th-consecutive season under veteran head coach Ralph Lundy.
“We have a very strong group of players who were young last year and did a great job for their experience, especially defending,” said Lundy, who is joined on the sidelines by assistant coaches Jamie Guyan and Keith Wiggans. “This year those players are back, a year older and more experienced. We’ve added some very good attacking new players that will help us score more goals.”
The team’s slate includes four dates with 2014 NCAA Men’s College Cup participants in Furman on Sept. 11 at Patriots Point, at UNCW on Sept. 30 in Wilmington, N.C., defending CAA champion James Madison on Oct. 10 at Patriots Point and at perennial power North Carolina on Oct. 13 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Other non-conference opponents include UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 18 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and Cal Poly on Sept. 20 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
“Our schedule is demanding, extremely challenging and unforgiving, but I feel confident we have the players and depth to handle such a schedule as it prepares us for postseason play,” Lundy said.
