Due to inclement weather and flooding conditions throughout the Lowcountry, the College of Charleston has cancelled all classes for Friday, October 2, as well as all College activities through Sunday, October 4, at 12:00 p.m.
This cancellation affects all classes, labs, meetings and other activities, including Family Weekend, scheduled at the downtown campus (including Harbor Walk and Avery Research Center), North Campus, Patriot’s Point, Grice Marine Lab and the Lowcountry Graduate Center.
All non-essential employees should not report to work. Essential employees from areas such as public safety, physical plant, residence hall and food service should report to work as previously scheduled. Supervisors should notify their employees as soon as possible regarding their employees’ work schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Supervisors also should work with their employees to make-up work hours at a mutually convenient time.
Per our fall semester make-up schedule, the College will hold make-up classes on Tuesday, December 8 (reading day).
All residence halls remain open. Dining services will operate on a normal schedule on Friday and throughout the weekend. Efforts will be made to have limited access to the Addlestone Library on Friday and throughout the weekend as well.
All of the College’s normal activities will resume on Sunday, October 4, at 12:00 p.m.
The Division of Student Affairs will announce details for a possible make-up date for Family Weekend.
The College will be closely monitoring the weather conditions throughout the weekend and will inform you if there are any additional changes to the College’s class schedule and hours of operation. Any updates will be posted to emergency.cofc.edu.
Anyone needing assistance should contact the Department of Public Safety at 843.953.5611 (emergency) or 843.953.5609 (non-emergency).
We urge the entire CofC community to follow the National Service Weather and local media for any possible changes in weather.
