Fourteen years ago, College of Charleston alumna Krista Ellis Bannister ’92 was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was only 30. But with the love and support of her family and friends, including her Tri Delta sorority sisters from the College, she beat the disease.
A former executive director of the Susan G. Komen Mountains to Midlands Affiliate, Bannister remains active with the organization, volunteering to help others battle cancer and raising awareness about risk factors for the disease. Recently, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, she’s been busy planning a fundraiser in which men in Greenville, S.C. are donning pink ties in support of the cause.
Bannister, who leads a busy life as a wife, mother and active member of her community, currently serves on the College’s Alumni Association Board.
