College of Charleston athletes and staff recently went on camera for CAA.TV to discuss their reactions to the June 2015 shootings at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in downtown Charleston. Junior guard Joe Chealey, junior forward Terrance O’Donohue, Head Coach Earl Grant and Assistant Director of Athletics for NCAA Compliance Otto B. German ’73 explain why representing and wearing “Charleston” on the front of the team’s jerseys this season means so much more this year.
“We stand for our community,” O’Donohue says. “We stand for Charleston. We play for Charleston. We are Charleston.”
Meanwhile, the last home game of the men’s basketball season is this Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016.
The Cougars take on the University of North Carolina-Wilmington at 6 p.m. in the College’s TD Arena in downtown Charleston. Tickets are available online through the College’s athletic department.
