Brandi Carlile

Brandi Carlile will perform at the College of Charleston on May 30, 2016, as part of Spoleto Festival USA.

The popular Grammy-nominated musician from Washington state, known for the Americana and folk rock music she creates with twin brothers Tim and Phil Hanseroth, will play a show at 8:30 p.m. in the College’s TD Arena.

Carlile last played in Charleston in October 2015 to share some of her new album, “The Firewatcher’s Daughter.” Previewing that performance, The (Charleston) Post and Courier described Carlile as a singer-songwriter who “cut(s) to your core with honest lyrics and sorrowful crooning that kick up into beautiful melodies.”

Also during Spoleto, percussionist Quentin Baxter ’98 will perform twice. Baxter’s first performance will be with Rene Marie, whose Grammy-nominated album “I Wanna Be Evil” was co-produced by Baxter, who also plays in her band. Marie and Baxter take the stage at the Charleston Gaillard Center at 7 p.m. on May 29, 2016.

Baxter performs again for the Freddy Cole Quartet from June 8 to 11 within the Recital Hall of the Simons Center on the College of Charleston campus.
