Alice Hamilton has always been mesmerized by transformation. For many years, she explored this subject through the theater, where actors routinely become someone, or something, else.

Lately, however, Hamilton has been witnessing transformation through her job as a professor and director of the CofC Center for Continuing and Professional Education. In particular, she enjoys seeing the transformation of students in her Professional Presentation course, which is a requirement for the CofC Bachelor of Professional Studies degree program. By helping to instill confidence in her students, she prepares them for new opportunities.

“Presentation skills are a critical component of job advancement – particularly with the rise of Skype interviews,” Hamilton explains. “I offer students the tools they need to overcome their shyness or anxiety.”

The School of Professional Studies offers degree-completion programs and continuing education opportunities for adult learners in the Charleston area. Courses are offered both online and at our innovative North Charleston campus, and are dedicated to facilitating continued career growth – through the Center for Continuing Education and JobBridge initiative – as well as opportunities for networking and personal enrichment.
