Charleston’s Sottile Theatre will be holding the Charleston Comedy Festival from March 25-26, 2016. The event was rescheduled from its original date in January 2016 due to inclement weather. The festival will feature two comedians: Todd Barry, at 8 p.m. on March 25 for $20, and T.J. Miller, at 7:30 p.m. on March 26, for $28.
Miller is known for his role on the HBO show Silicon Valley, as well as for starring in several films, such as Cloverfield and Big Hero 6. Barry is also a successful comedian, with appearances on Comedy Central, Louis CK’s Louie, as well as playing the part of Wayne in 2008’s The Wrestler.
Barry, who is currently on tour, said he is excited to be visiting the Holy City. When asked what he was most excited for, he said, “I like checking out any city where I don’t live…it’s fun to show up in a place like Charleston and find you have a group of fans there.”
Barry, who majored in English at the University of Florida, said he was a
relatively boring college student.
“The most outrageous thing about my college years was that I lived alone for a couple of years,” he said, “No one does that in college.”
The comedian said that he plans to check out the city by “walking around and eating,” and he is certainly coming to the right place with Charleston’s beautiful sights and lively restaurant scene.
The festival is being hosted by Charleston City Paper and Theatre 99. Tickets are available now through the festival’s website, with each comedian holding separate events.
