The June 2016 issue of Southern Living features the charming Charleston single house owned by alum artist and designer Lulie Martin Wallace ’09.

Lulie Martin Wallace ’09

As part of the article “10 Colorful Ideas for Small House Design,” Wallace and her husband, Harrison, tell Southern Living how they made a small and chopped-up house into something much more comfortable and efficient.

Wallace is no stranger to the spotlight, yet the attention surrounding her usually focuses on her artwork, not her abode. Her flowery paintings and other work seem to appear everywhere these days, from seed packets to bedding to national retailers like Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, One Kings Lane and Serena & Lily.

Customers love her dependably cheery and luscious designs. As Wallace told the College of Charleston Magazine in a 2015 profile:

“My first love is color. I love bright and fun colors. I love to see how colors work together, bounce off of each other – it is so fun. I feel like my color palette is definitely recognizable throughout everything I do – it’s a big part of my brand.”
