Matt Roberts was introduced as the new College of Charleston director of athletics at press conference on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, in Randolph Hall.

Roberts is currently the deputy director of athletics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and will officially start his post at the College on Jan. 1, 2017.

 As athletics director, Roberts will direct the day-to-day operations of the College’s athletics department, including operational planning, resource allocation, budget development and financial management.

 “We will embrace and foster greatness in all that we do,” Roberts said, outlining the first of three points that will shape his vision for the College’s athletics program. “The second-most important thing that we do is – we will constantly focus on our student-athletes. Third, we will get out into the community and we will engage the Charleston community and the communities abroad.”
