Presented by the Office of Institutional Diversity and led by faculty from the Department of Teacher Education, this peer-to-peer workshop on Nov. 28, 2016, will explore how faculty members can reflect upon the personal identities that they bring to the classroom in an effort to better facilitate student dialogue and foster an inclusive community.
The workshop takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the School of Education, Health and Human Performance Alumni Center, 86 Wentworth St. The discussion will be led by Teacher Education professors Ashley Vaughns, Sophia Rodriquez and Keonya Booker.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
Additional workshops will be scheduled for the 2017 Spring semester, including sessions examining how students experience differences in the classroom and encounter obstacles to feeling a sense of belongingness. Another session will examine ways to build a community of learners through active engagement among faculty and students.
