Members of the Jewish community will gather on Dec. 29, 2016, for the 12th Annual Chanukah in the Square – one of the largest annual Jewish events in South Carolina and a wonderful, family friendly way to come together as a community.
Featuring music, dancing and food, the event takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Charleston’s Marion Square Park. It is organized by the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston, Chabad of Charleston and the Low Country, the City of Charleston’s Office of Cultural Affairs and many other community organizations.
Local Holocaust survivors will be joined by Dr. Ruth Westheimer as they continue the tradition of lighting the menorah candles. Anita Zucker, College of Charleston President Glenn McConnell ’69 and Mayor John Tecklenburg will give welcoming remarks.
The Norman J. Arnold Foundation is the presenting sponsor of Chanukah in the Square. Sponsorship is also provided by Berlin’s Restaurant Supply, the Hyman family and the Homegrown Hospitality Group’s T-Bonz Foundation.
