College of Charleston mascot Clyde the Cougar is usually the most popular figure at CofC basketball games, but last night he had a bit of competition from two major celebrities. As the Cougars took on the Towson Tigers, funnyman Bill Murray and Gilmore Girls star Matt Czuchry ’99 sat in the stands to cheer on the players.
The actors posed for a few selfies with adoring fans while the men’s basketball team surged ahead of Towson. Murray has been spotted at several CofC games — even dancing with Clyde on occasion. Czuchry attended the College, so he’s already friendly with the mascot.
And if you look closely at the photo above, at right, wearing a blue shirt, is Hootie & the Blowfish guitarist Mark Bryan, who also teaches in the College’s arts management program.
The next home game for Cougar basketball is Saturday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. CofC takes on Hofstra. Tickets are still available. No telling which entertainers might show up for that game!
