A month ago, an iPhone operating system update took away one of our favorite emojis.

After every “Go Cougs!” tweet, we preferred to run the sentiment home with a properly placed maroon paw print. Since there was no Cougar symbol, the paws in the color of the College of Charleston would do — but then Apple changed the color to a neutral black on iOS devices.

What were we to do? How could we show our Cougar Pride via emoji?

Thankfully, there was a solution in the works. The College recently launched CofCMOJI, an entire keyboard dedicated to everything we love about Charleston and CofC. Introduced at Saturday’s homecoming game, the iOS and Android app is an easy way for students and alums to share Clyde faces, sports GIFs, campus icons, and even a bowl of shrimp and grits.

Designed right here in Silicon Harbor, The College paired with Will Willis ’08 and Joseph Meyers with development shop That Level to produce CofCMOJI. They helped combine campus classics, Charleston icons and hilarious GIFs to help Cougar fans all over the world interact in a very unique way.

The keyboard has five different categories featuring dozens of unique stickers, and the College has big plans to roll out some exciting new artwork on a regular basis.
