It may come as no surprise to alums, current students or recent visitors to the College of Charleston, but the fair city that our school resides in was recently named “No. 1 City in the U.S.” by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine and No. 2 in the world.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the readers of Travel + Leisure ranked Charleston the No. 1 City in the U.S. and Canada. A wealth of art, restaurants, historic landmarks and polite citizens ultimately put Charleston on top.
“It’s no surprise that Travel + Leisure readers have once again rated Charleston the best city in the United States,” says Travel + Leisure Editor Nathan Lump. “Although small in size, it’s the complete package: a rich history and cultural life, some of the country’s most interesting food and drink and shopping, excellent hotels, and of course, locals who demonstrate the meaning of a warm welcome.”
The College also got accolades from the popular travel magazine recently. Travel + Leisure readers named CofC “America’s Most Beautiful College Campus” last week.
And while we’re not saying it was in an inside job, the College does have an in with the photo editor at Travel + Leisure. Alum Skye Senterfeit ‘03 probably helped pick out the amazing photos used on the current World’s Best Awards site.
