Below is a welcome message from College of Charleston President Glenn F. McConnell ’69 ahead of the start of the 2017-18 academic year on Aug. 22, 2017.
As we begin the academic year together, I want to extend best wishes to you for a productive, safe and fun fall semester and year. I hope you will see us as a home away from home and a warm and welcoming environment to pursue your educational goals.
Today, and in the years ahead, please know that our faculty and staff are here for you. Our student-focused culture is and always will be the hallmark of our unique institution. Your education, and the responsibility of ensuring that upon graduation you are ready for career, ready for advanced and graduate studies, and ready to live the life extraordinary, is our sole priority.
While you are a student with us, I charge you with the following tasks: discover yourself, make an impact at the College and in the Charleston community, and change the world. In short, make your time here count!
Good luck during your first week of classes and throughout this academic year. I wish you all the best as you strive to make this a year of educational excellence and personal growth. I look forward to seeing you around campus.
Glenn F. McConnell ’69
