Norton worked at the College of Charleston for almost 30 years and served as the director of operations in the School of the Arts. In her role, Norton worked with Spoleto Festival USA, the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities and other regional and national organizations. She also served on multiple campus committees to help coordinate commencement and other large-scale institutional events. Her tireless dedication and service to the College was driven by her love of the students, faculty, staff, artists and volunteers.
A memorial service will be held on Oct. 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 67 Anson St., in Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, Norton’s family asks that memorials be made to the College of Charleston Foundation for the Kathryn Norton Award for Service, a financial award given annually to a School of the Arts student who demonstrates excellent service to others. Memorials can be made to the Kathryn Norton Award for Service R889, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC, 29424 or online at https://giving.cofc.edu/donate (for designation, enter “other” then specify “Kathryn Norton Award for Service”).
