Did you know that the period of time from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2018, is designated as Hispanic Heritage Month? That’s right, and this year the College is celebrating it in a number of important ways.

For the 14th consecutive year, the Department of Hispanic Studies is commemorating this occasion with several activities and events. The highlight will be a cultural celebration on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, in the Stern Center Ballroom from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dubbed “One Endless Voice to Enhance our Traditions,” this event will feature folklore, dances and foods representing Colombia, Puerto Rico and Guatemala. Live music from the College’s own Otro Sur, led by music professor Michael O’Brien from the Department of Music, will also be featured.

Sponsored by the Office of Institutional Diversity, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, Cougar Activities Board, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program and Circulo Hispano de Charleston, the event is free and open to the public.
