Due to potential inclement weather from Hurricane Michael, the College of Charleston is cancelling all classes and College events for Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, following a closure notice from the Charleston County government. All campus activities and campus visits are also cancelled for Thursday, Oct. 11. All classes on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 10, will meet as scheduled.
This cancellation affects all classes, labs, meetings and other activities scheduled at the downtown campus (including Harbor Walk and Avery Research Center), North Campus, Grice Marine Lab and the Lowcountry Graduate Center, including those courses taught in the English Language Institute and the Charleston Bridge Program.
Only essential personnel will need to report to campus on Thursday, Oct. 11. Faculty and staff should consult with their supervisors regarding work schedules. For students, residence halls will remain open, and the Liberty Street Fresh Food Companies (the main dining facility) will be open from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. on Thursday. The Addlestone Library will have a limited schedule (please go to the library website for hours).
Regarding a make-up day for missed classes on Thursday, Provost Brian McGee will make an announcement no later than Monday (Oct. 15) about academic calendar adjustments.
At this time, campus will reopen on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, on its normal operating schedule. For more information, please go to emergency.cofc.edu.
