Employment is all about making connections. That’s a key outlook for the professionals who staff the College’s Career Center. And among their most important functions is connecting current students with alumni who work in fields that students aspire to.
That’s why the center created its series of alumni panel discussions. The next one in this series – “Careers in Sustainability and Social Justice” – will take place on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the Tate Center Room 315.
According to Jim Allison, who directs the Career Center, this event will feature two alumni – Sean Hannigan ‘18, recruitment specialist for the American Red Cross; and Anna Hamilton Lewin ‘03, chief operating officer of the South Carolina Community Loan Fund – along with Omar Muhammad, executive director of the Lowcountry Alliance for Model Communities (LAMC). All three will discuss careers in the areas of sustainability and social justice and how to land them.
In addition to sharing their insights, these three professionals will also work with staff from the Career Center to review students’ résumés in a process Allison refers to as a “speed résumé review session.” Students interested in attending are encouraged to bring their résumés. Pizza will be served after the panel discussion concludes.
