The Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) will host an event titled “Creative Concepts: With Community Comes Unity” on Nov. 2, 2018.
The event, which will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Simons Recital Hall and Hill Art Gallery, will feature performances by:
- Marcus Amaker – Charleston’s first Poet Laureate
- DanceFX – the City’s premier nonprofit adult and youth dance studio
- Art Pot – the state’s first Hispanic multicultural arts organization
The Creative Concepts event is free and open to the public. A reception will be held in Hill Art Gallery immediately following the performances.
The event’s goals are two-fold: to promote the office’s work among the campus community and strengthen the bridge between CofC and the larger Charleston community. Rénard Harris, associate vice president and chief diversity officer, says the College’s relationship with the Charleston community is important because, “the College’s story is incomplete without the Charleston community’s story and the Charleston community’s story is incomplete without the College’s story.”
