With the towering oaks standing sentry and beautiful Randolph Hall providing an inspiring backdrop, there’s no prettier place in Charleston than Cistern Yard. But it gets even prettier this time of year with the second annual musical light show, Cougar Night Lights, which opens to the public Dec. 14, 2018, and runs nightly through Jan. 1, 2019.

The presentation runs on the hour between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. For the opening weekend, there will be wine and beer sales on Saturday, Dec. 15.

A special focus will be on historic Randolph Hall and the majestic Cistern Yard trees. The show was produced and designed by CofC alumnus John Reynolds ’97, who has won multiple Emmys for his lighting displays and has done work for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Super Bowl.

This event is free and open to all, so join us on the College of Charleston campus to ring in the holidays. Cistern Yard is located at the corner of George and St. Philip streets. Public parking garages are available at two nearby locations, including the St. Philip Garage and the George Street Garage. In the meantime, enjoy these photos from the special student-only viewings that took place in early December.
