Nearly 300 new faces are being added to the student body at the College of Charleston for the spring 2019 semester as winter transfer and Bridge Program students arrive on campus. As it does at the start of each new semester, the College is helping these new students adjust to life on campus by way of an engaging program entitled Weeks of Welcome (WOW).

Winter WOW, which runs from Jan. 3, 2019, through March 9, 2019, has been given the tagline, “Rock the Maroon and Gold!” Events run the gamut from an ice skating trip to free group fitness classes to salsa dancing and a Super Bowl watch party.

“The Office of Student Life puts this all together to welcome new students to campus,” explains Stephanie Auwaerter, director of New Student Programs. “Our office hosts new student orientation, and their office hosts WOW, a myriad of events for new and returning students that sets the tone for the spring semester. Doing this is really important because it definitely helps new students find connections here at the College.”

Winter WOW activities also include The College Reads! lecture on Jan. 14, 2019, CofC Spirit Week (Feb. 11-15), and Family Fun Day, which takes place on Feb. 16. A full calendar of Winter WOW events can be found online. The lineup of events is also posted in many locations around campus.
