Winter has come to the College of Charleston, and though there’s no snow to be seen, it’s time to celebrate the season. This Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, the Office of Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS) will host a Winter Wonderland Spectacular from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will take place at the Multicultural Center at 207 Calhoun St.
The event will include food, games and prizes as well as a chance for students to simply chill out and relax after the first week of classes for the spring semester.
“Our purpose for organizing this carnival,” said Ashley Ragin, the MSPS staff member who is coordinating the event, “is to encourage more students to learn about and visit our center, and to foster a more collaborative relationship with student organizations.”
Ragin noted that five student organizations are co-hosting the event, including the Asian Student Association, the Student Ambassadors, the Hispanic-Latino Club, the United African Students and Lambda Theta Phi, the new Latino fraternity on campus. She added that entertainment for the evening will be provided by DJ Scrib, aka James Vickers, who graduated from the College in 2015.
“It will be a fun carnival with unique winter games planned by students for students with plenty of food and prizes for all,” said Ragin.
