College of Charleston Board of Trustees Chair David Hay ’81 provided the following message to the campus community on Jan. 11, 2019, regarding a welcome event for President-elect Andrew T. Hsu:

Dear Campus Community:

Andrew T. Hsu

In December, I wrote to you to announce that President-elect Hsu will officially become the College’s 23rd president on May 16 and will be on campus beginning March 1.

When the Board of Trustees elected Dr. Hsu to be the president of the College in late November, we were not able to get him to campus for a welcome event with all of you. I’m pleased to announce that the College will be holding a welcome event for President-elect Hsu and his family on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019. The entire campus community is invited to attend the welcome event and a reception that will immediately follow. The details are below:

  • Wednesday, January 23, 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – President-elect Hsu will speak to our campus community in Alumni Hall. The event will also be livestreamed on the College’s Facebook page for those of you who are not able to attend.
  • Wednesday, January 23, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Reception with food and drinks in the Cistern Yard. You’ll be able to mingle and meet with President-elect Hsu and his family.

This promises to be an exciting day for President-elect Hsu, his family and our entire campus community. I hope to see you at one, if not both, of our two events on January 23.

Sincerely,

David
